There are three types of academic essays.

An essay is, by definition an essay that is written to provides the author’s argument However, the exact definition is somewhat vague, encompassing all those of an essay, a letter, a newspaper, an article, pamphlets, and even a short story. Essays are typically classified as informal and formal in the manner they’re written. That is to say that a formal essay will usually be written in a systematic manner with proper grammar and sentence structure. While an informal essay may use simple language and sometimes poor grammar. However, there are certain formal kinds of essays that are very commonly used, even by those who think they are not very skilled writers.

The most popular kind of essay is an argument essay, also known as the argumentative essay. These types of essays typically are written in the form of arguments that support the other side of a debate, using literary devices such as metaphors and similes to amazing effect. There is often an intense sense of polemics and the debate may almost always be separated from personal opinions or feelings toward a particular subject. In order to be utilized in college classes, essays must meet certain requirements that have been defined by the department of education or else , they must be completed under the direction of an experienced instructor.

Another type of essay is the descriptive. Also known as the narrative essay. This type of essay isn’t an extensive description of a topic. Instead it will present information quickly from various sources in a concise and concise way. It uses the storytelling technique, which outlines an event, character or idea in a narrative format. Many colleges and universities need detailed explanations of figures and facts. They also need an end that outlines the subject’s strengths, weaknesses and the intended use of the information.

The argumentative essay is the third most popular type of essay. It is typically more complicated than the descriptive essay. Argumentative essays are written in support of a main thesis and are typically written in response. Students should be attentive to arguments from both proponents and the opponents when writing their essays. This will enable them to use their knowledge of the subject to answer “What is the evidence?” in a way that is based on solid reasoning.

The comparative essay is the fourth and most popular kind of essay. Comparative essays compare a particular object or group of objects with one another and analyze how they are alike or different. They require extensive research to determine which facts and figures are the most pertinent to the argument they’re supporting. The conclusion is a crucial part of any comparative paper. It outlines the outcomes of the comparison.

The other kinds of essays typically required to earn college credits are argumentative and descriptive. Argumentative essays are those where the writer simply argues an argument. They usually draw upon personal experience or a scientific study. Descriptive essays are comparable in structure to argumentative essays, but they provide a narrative or describe things that were observed or felt. Both types of academic essays–arguments and descriptions–contend about the subject of the essays, and the aim is to persuade the reader that the conclusion they draw is correct. Sometimes, a writer for academics may choose to write both an argument and a description which may be the subject of separate essays.

Writing essays requires that the writer uses a variety of ways to write. They should not only contain the main ideas, but also include additional details to support them. The student should be able after completing the essay, to defend his/her ideas using additional valid information. However, they should always strive to make the reader feel that their/her opinion was the most logical.

Students should avoid the mistake of focusing too much on the expression of their thoughts, as this can often lead to oversimplification–a common problem among students who attempt to write persuasive essays. Instead, they must try to provide a detailed description supported by valid research, for their opinions. Although a descriptive essay is not as persuasive as an argumentative essay it will be more engaging to the readers.
